Summary:

The Project Controls Specialist will perform project scheduling, reporting, forecasting, and provide proposal support as required. The Project Controls Specialist will follow project controls practices as guided by the Director of Project Controls. This position requires extensive utilization of Primavera 6 and Microsoft Excel, and excellent communications skills.

Safety Considerations:

Typically works in an office environment. May be required to lift objects up to 20 pounds. Must practice good back posture and ergonomic principles in an office environment. Periodically will be required to conduct site visits to evaluate site conditions for making estimates of work to be done. Must wear personal protective equipment in the field to include safety glasses, boots, and similar. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold environments on a limited basis. May be required to walk over rough terrain and climb slopes. Extended walking, climbing and use of hands and feet will be necessary. May be required to drive a company vehicle and must have a valid driver’s license and approval prior to driving a company owned or leased vehicle.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.

  • Two to Five years minimum of recent applied scheduling experience. Preferably in a Construction, Heavy Civil, Utility, or EPC environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting construction planning, scheduling and cost control.

  • Monitoring progress and costs on assigned projects and provides timely and accurate reports of these performance measurements.

  • Maintains the baseline for the assigned project portfolio using earned value techniques.

  • Develops and maintains material and labor takeoffs.

  • Analyzes projects and recommends corrective actions to mitigate negative impacts to cost and schedule.

  • Assists in tracking claims.

  • Forecast preparation.

  • Assists the estimating and proposal teams in proposal preparation.

  • Interfaces with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Construction Managers, and Clients.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
