Mechanical Maintenance


Perform general maintenance duties to help insure good mechanical operation.


  • Perform routine maintenance jobs – i.e. changing pulleys, belts, dismantling machinery, simple welding, etc.
  • Assist other maintenance people higher classification with such duties as overhaul, vehicle repair, relocation of equipment, etc.
  • Does simple sheet metal work or wood repair work
  • Grease and oil machinery or vehicles
  • Serve generally as a learner to assist in maintenance work whether it be shop, construction, or tool room
  • May be assigned general labor duties – yard work, clean up, or other duties as assigned.
  • Keep work area clean
  • Preventative maintenance on plant equipment
  • Troubleshooting
  • Responding to breakdowns


  • Should possess general knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, blueprint reading, power transmission, pumps, basic hand tools, and operation of shop equipment
  • Industrial experience in maintenance related field preferred
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude
  • Able to comprehend written procedures/work instructions
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to perform basic duties with minimal supervision
