Load and transport oversized loads of equipment and supplies to various job sites.
Ability to read and interpret road maps. Practice good safety habits from company and as required under Federal and State DOT, work in dusty or dirty surroundings, follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling; judge distances and weights accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards. Physically driver must be able to stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms and legs full; Have good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction), lift up to 80 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma preferred and one year relevant experience. Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Check transport vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and in accordance with DOT requirements.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
Maintain logs of working hours and/or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.
Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, earth moving equipment, general construction and forestry machinery, or other materials.
Ability to lift 80 pounds unassisted and to carry objects of 50 pounds or less routinely.
Ability to understand and comply with safety considerations as set herein and others required for the position.
Typically works 12 hours per day, 6-7 days per week (limited to FMSCA requirements) in extreme hot and cold environments. Wears all required personal protective equipment on daily basis. May be required to work on variable terrain in performance of duties. Required to drive large trucks requiring CDL license. Good driving record, CDL license and medical card mandatory. Driver is responsible for ensuring they do not exceed DOT hours of service. Routinely lifts/carries up to 50 pounds unassisted on daily basis.
Required to drive for extended periods of time including night driving.
Is solely responsible for maintenance of load.
Ensures that only the operator loading or unloading trailer is within 25’ of the trailer while loading.
Maintains visibility with operator throughout course of loading and unloading trailer.
Routine climbing into/out of equipment while maintaining 3 points of contact.
Follows Company and FDOT safety requirements in performance of duties.
May be required to work at night.
