General Foundry Production

This is an entry position for new hires joining the company. Workers hired as General Foundry will be assigned to a production or service department, to train and acquire the necessary skills and work pace to advance to a department specific job classification. The position reports to the Department Foreman, and often requires weekend work and/or mandatory overtime.  All General Foundry assignments are considered to be heavy industrial, and are repetitive in nature.


  • Successfully complete safety training, and demonstrate ability to comply with departmental safety policy and guidelines, specifically:
    - Machine specific (i.e. lockout, light curtains, etc.)
    - Danger zones
    - Health and Environmental hazards
  • Successfully complete training and demonstrate ability to utilize Process Control Sheets and Departmental Work Instructions (DWIs)
  • Successfully complete and participate in TKW’s 5-S Program (housekeeping)
  • Successfully complete training in TKW’s ISO 14001 Environmental Certification, specifically:
    - Environmental Policy Awareness
    - Significant Aspect awareness
    - Emergency Response contacts
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a work pace commensurate with the company’s goal of the on time delivery of quality iron castings
  • General labor may include lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Grinding
  • Operating hand tools, machines and other equipment 
  • Will assist in the production of ductile iron castings 
  • Will use various hand tools including (but not limited to) hand held pneumatic disc grinders, hand held cup grinders and burr grinders
  • Will operate large pedestal grinders
  • Will visually inspect castings for defects


  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
